Jablonec Uranium Glass

Uranium glass has a long tradition in Czech glassmaking. During its production, small amounts of uranium compounds were added to the glass, giving it distinctive shades and, most importantly, its fascinating characteristic – under UV light, the glass glows with an intense green fluorescence.

Jablonec nad Nisou and its surrounding region have been an important center of Czech glass bead and costume jewelry production for generations. Today, vintage Jablonec beads are sought after not only for their beauty, but also for their traditional craftsmanship and history.
